Focus Areas
Eligible interventions should:
- Focus on at least one of our Priority Countries and Focus Areas.
- Address a significant need. Potential partners should refer to recent data to demonstrate why the intervention is needed.
- Be based on evidence. Potential partners will be asked to provide evidence of the effectiveness of the approach that they would like to adopt in a similar context.
- Be sustainable. Potential partners must present a realistic assessment of the sustainability of the proposed intervention and report thereon.
- Have potential to scale. Potential partners should present a clear plan on how the intervention can be scaled to have a wider reach.
- Represent value for money i.e. economical, efficient, and effective.
- Have measurable target outputs and outcomes. Potential partners should provide clear plans for monitoring and evaluating achievement against agreed targets. Targets must be specific, measurable, realistic and time-bound.
- Be likely to achieve impact.
The Charity will not fund:
- Research.
- Interventions seeking to alleviate suffering resulting from natural or man-made disasters, including the delivery of food aid or shelter. The Charity’s focus is on long-term development work.
- Applications relating to the promotion of religious or political causes, general appeals or circulars, individual sponsorship, events or conferences.

- Water, sanitation and hygiene: Potential partners should note that they will be asked to provide evidence of having achieved long-term sustainability in previous WASH interventions.
- Nutrition
- Education: We will consider education-related proposals backed by evidence of the approach’s effect on learning outcomes.

We will consider interventions that will be implemented in stable areas in any of the following countries:

Partner Selection
To be eligible for funding potential partners must:
All potential and existing partners should comply with the Charity's Anti-Fraud Policy.
To be eligible for funding potential partners must:
- Be registered as a charity.
- Have an annual income of over £1 million or at least 5x the grant amount requested. Potential partners will be asked to demonstrate that they are not reliant on one donor for the majority of their income.
- Have a proven 3-year track record in addressing the relevant issue.
- Have an established in-country presence in the relevant country.
- Work in collaboration with, rather than in parallel to, the national government of the Priority Country.
